General Technical Management

 

JOB SUMMARY

The General Manager – Technical is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership across Project Management, Network Operations, and Technical Service Delivery. The role oversees the performance, reliability, and scalability of the company’s network infrastructure while leading and developing a high-performing technical team, including Project Managers, Field Engineers, Resident Engineers, and NOC Engineers.

This position plays a critical role in ensuring network uptime, service quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of technical operations. The Senior Manager  will also collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to support business growth and deliver reliable, secure, and efficient internet services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Leadership, Strategy, and Team Development

  • Develop and implement technical strategies aligned with the company’s overall business objectives.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to the technical team to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery.
  • Lead, manage, and mentor network engineers, field engineers, resident engineers, and NOC engineers.

  1. Stakeholder Engagement
  • Work closely with Sales and Business Development teams to provide technical input for new opportunities and proposals.
  • Engage with external vendors, partners, ISPs, and regulatory bodies to enhance service offerings and partnerships.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with internal management and cross-functional teams.
  1. Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity
  • Develop, implement, and regularly test disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity plans.
  • Ensure backup systems and failover mechanisms are fully operational and tested.
  • Provide regular reports to management on network performance, incidents, risks, and technical operations.

Qualifications and Experience

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree is an added advantage.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 5–10 years of experience in a technical management role within an ISP or telecommunications environment.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale network infrastructure, service delivery operations, and technical teams.

    • Fiber optics, microwave links, GPON, FTTH
    • MPLS, BGP, routing and switching

LEGAL EXECUTIVE

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creation, Sign Off and maintaining data of all Telecommunication Agreements signed by the company with their clients.
  • Creation, Sign Off and maintaining data of all Agreements signed by the company with their partners and vendors.
  • Ensuring the company functions as per the Law of Land and Legal framework is adhered to.

Job Summary

The Field Engineer is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting ISP network infrastructure to ensure seamless service delivery. The role requires on-site technical support, customer installations, network troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

Installations and Maintenance

  • Perform wireless and microwave network installations for residential and enterprise customers.

  • Install and configure routers, switches, access points, modems, and other network devices.

  • Conduct site surveys to assess feasibility and signal strength for new deployments.

  • Carry out fiber splicing, termination, and OTDR testing.

Troubleshooting and Technical Support

  • Diagnose and resolve network outages, latency issues, and equipment failures.

Education

Fiber Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a Fiber Engineer to support the installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of our fiber optic network infrastructure.

The successful candidate will help ensure the availability, reliability, and optimal performance of the fiber network supporting our internet and connectivity services.

This is a hands-on technical role requiring practical experience in fiber optic installation, splicing, testing, fault diagnosis, preventive maintenance, and network restoration within an ISP or telecommunications environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Fiber Network Installation & Deployment

  • Install, terminate, splice, test, and commission fiber optic cables and related network infrastructure.

  • Carry out Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) and Fiber-to-the-Business (FTTB) installations where required.

  • Participate in fiber rollout, expansion, and network upgrade projects.

  • Install and maintain fiber distribution infrastructure, including ODFs, patch panels, splice closures, splitters, and other passive network components.

  • Ensure all installations comply with approved technical standards and project specifications.

  • Conduct site surveys and provide technical recommendations before fiber deployment.

2. Fiber Splicing & Testing

  • Perform fusion splicing and termination of fiber optic cables.

  • Conduct OTDR testing to identify fiber faults, breaks, bends, attenuation, and other network issues.

  • Perform power meter and light source testing to measure optical power levels and link performance.

  • Interpret OTDR traces and test results to accurately identify fault locations.

  • Maintain accurate records of fiber test results and network measurements.

3. Fault Management & Troubleshooting

  • Monitor, diagnose, and resolve fiber network faults within agreed SLA timelines.

  • Respond promptly to fiber cuts, cable breaks, high attenuation, damaged infrastructure, and other network incidents.

  • Identify the root cause of fiber faults and implement appropriate corrective actions.

  • Coordinate emergency restoration activities and ensure timely restoration of affected services.

  • Escalate major incidents appropriately and provide regular updates to relevant stakeholders.

  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring and major fiber network incidents.

4. Preventive & Corrective Maintenance

  • Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance on fiber infrastructure.

  • Inspect fiber routes, joint closures, cabinets, ODFs, and other network infrastructure.

  • Identify potential risks that may affect fiber availability and recommend preventive actions.

  • Carry out corrective maintenance to restore faulty or degraded fiber links.

  • Maintain accurate preventive and corrective maintenance records.

5. Network Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate documentation of fiber routes, network topology, fiber cores, splicing records, and test results.

  • Update fiber network diagrams and as-built documentation following installations or network changes.

  • Maintain records of fiber utilization and available capacity.

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports covering installations, faults, maintenance activities, and network performance.

  • Ensure all assigned jobs and activities are properly documented and closed.

6. Coordination & Stakeholder Management

  • Work closely with the NOC, Network Engineers, Field Engineers, and Customer Support teams to resolve fiber-related issues.

  • Coordinate with contractors and third-party service providers during fiber deployment and restoration activities.

  • Liaise with customers and site representatives where required during installations and fault resolution.

  • Provide technical support during major network incidents and planned maintenance activities.

7. Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all company Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies while carrying out field activities.

  • Ensure the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Handle fiber optic tools and equipment safely.

  • Ensure installations and maintenance activities comply with applicable technical standards and company procedures.

  • Report unsafe conditions, damaged infrastructure, and potential network risks promptly.

Requirements

Educational Qualifications

  • Minimum of HND or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.

  • Relevant fiber optic certifications will be an added advantage.

  • Training or certification in FTTH/GPON technology will be an advantage.

Experience

  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in fiber optic network operations, installation, maintenance, or troubleshooting.

  • Previous experience in an ISP, telecommunications company, fiber network operator, or managed service environment will be an advantage.

  • Demonstrable hands-on experience in fiber splicing and OTDR testing.

  • Experience with FTTH/FTTB deployments will be an added advantage.
